Perhaps she wants him to know that she's playing a legitimate hand and is not gambling recklessly. She may also want to impress him with her card-playing ability, feeling pretty confident that her hand is good enough to claim the pot.

Usually if a player is involved in a hand that she knows she shouldn't be playing, she will not share it with a pal or third party who happens along in the midst of poker combat. Why? First, she might unwillingly impress upon the onlooker that she plays poorly. Second, the onlooker might accidentally tip off to her opponents that her hand is weak, costing her the pot. If she does share it, it's probable that the hand is strong enough to merit her investment. Strong players are less likely to exhibit this tell, and some may even use it as a ploy to attempt a bluff. Against a strong opponent, watch the onlooker for clues.
